July 26, 2010 Local 700 Gets Cook County Clerk Job Back A Teamsters Local 700 member and Cook County employee could be back to work soon after an arbitrator ruled in Catherine Gnutek's favor, saying she should be reinstated pending a physical exam. Gnutek, a Cook County Trial Court Clerk in the Law Division, was accused of allegedly violating the terms of her disability leave. This accusation resulted in Gnutek's discharge in August 2008. Local 700 continued to fight for Gnutek, who has been a clerk since 1995. Thanks to the Local Union's perseverance, Gnutek was awarded reinstatement at an arbitration hearing on July 14, 2010. "This decision shows what a union with strong staff attorneys can do for its members," said William P. Logan, Assistant Trustee for Local 700. "We're getting more and more deserving employees their jobs back."
