Aug. 27, 2010 Local 700 Member's Son Wins $1,000 Hoffa Scholarship Patrick Creedon, the son of Local 700 Member, John P. Creedon of Mokena, has been selected as a $1,000 James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship recipient. Patrick, 18, and the valedictorian of his graduating class at Lincoln-Way North High School, is heading off in September to the University of Tampa in Florida. He plans on using his scholarship money to pay for his books and trip to school. "I am grateful that I received the scholarship because college costs more than just tuition and room and board," said Patrick Creedon. "I'm going to use the money to pay for my trip down to Tampa and for the rest of my books." Creedon said he's also taking a challenging leap his first semster by studying abroad. "I am even jumping out of my comfort zone and through the University of Tampa Honors Program, I will be studying in London for the first semester of college," he said. "The personal interaction and real world experience is vital for me to learn and grow as an individual." Creedon plans on majoring in Business Marketing and Advertising. |
