Nov. 23, 2010 Village of Summit radio control operators and clerks voted unanimously on Nov. 19, 2010, to ratify a new four-year contract, securing significant raises and more paid time off for the Teamsters Local 700 members. "The Teamsters won such a strong and successful contract thanks to the resolve of the members," said John T. Coli, Trustee of Local 700. Over the life of the contract, the Summit operators' raises will total 18 percent, while the clerks' pay increases will total 16 percent. In addition, Local 700 representatives were able to secure an extra paid holiday each year for all members and an additional vacation day for every year over 20 that employees have been in the bargaining unit. Members will also receive unlimited residency within the state of Illinois. "Everyone involved is extremely pleased with the outcome, especially considering the current economic climate and the other challenges facing our members today," said William P. Logan, Local 700 Assistant Trustee. "Most importantly, these workers will be able to enjoy years of job security and fair wages and working conditions. At the end of the day, we strive to achieve such peace of mind for each and every one of our members."
