Nov. 29, 2010 Ford was unjustly suspended for 29 days in February and March 2009, and he immediately filed an appeal with the Human Resources Board of the City of Chicago. Local 700 attorneys and representatives spent months working to resolve the matter. The initial hearing was March 18, 2010, and the agreement was signed on Nov. 23. Ford will receive his full back pay in the coming months. "This union has been great. They really took care of business," said Ford, who has worked for the Department of Streets and Sanitation since 1999. "It's great to finally have this resolved." "When one of our members is treated unjustly, we will continue to fight for him or her until that wrong is righted," said William P. Logan, Local 700 Assistant Trustee. |
