Resolved Grievances Across Several Units Put Members at Ease

Teamsters Local 700 representatives and officials are constantly working toward fair settlements for members. Below are a few of the most recent grievance resolutions.


A dispatcher from Country Club Hills recently received a tuition reimbursement that will eventually total $21,080 as a result of a resolved grievance.


Several grievances filed on behalf of members working for the Summit Fire Department regarding the callback procedure have been resolved. Members now can have additional shifts and more opportunities for overtime.

Another grievance filed on behalf of members working for the Clerical/Dispatch unit in Summit regarding mandatory overtime was resolved. Members now have the option of overtime.


A grievance was filed against the City of Oak Forest because management was doing bargaining unit work to avoid paying over time to the public works members. Local 700 prevailed and now members are first given the opportunity for over time.


Local 700 representatives avoided arbitration by resolving two grievances with the Cook County Clerks Office. The grievance stated that two individuals were denied their contractual right to the first available semi-automatic bid in their position and that particular location. These two members were awarded back pay, one in the amount of $1,400 and the other in the amount of $3,200.
