Contract Negotiations Continue for Several Units
Teamsters Local 700 representatives are always on the move negotiating contracts. Below is an update for a few ongoing negotiations.
Braidwood
Local 700 representatives sent a letter to the Village to jump start negotiations. The bargaining committee has already been selected and members are hard at work on proposals.
Monee
Local 700 has filed an interest arbitration with the Village after months of unfruitful negotiations. The Village has already hired a new law firm and Local 700 representatives are hopeful this will speed up an agreement.
Roberts Park Fire Protection
At the Sept. 22 negotiation session, the Village responded to the union’s last proposal. They are asking for a nine-month wage freeze, followed by a 3 percent increase effective May 1, 2012 and another age increase of 3 percent effective May 1, 2013. The Village is also requesting members give up six of their paid days off. Local 700 representatives are waiting on official written responses from the Village.
Calumet City
Calumet City members began negotiations on Sept. 19. There are no tentative agreements yet.
Lake County Corrections
After some successful negotiation sessions, Local 700 representatives were still unable to come to an agreement on a few issues. Representatives are now in the process of filing for Federal Mediation.
Water Reclamation
Negotiations are continuing, with exciting progress made on Sept. 21. The Water Reclamation District has tentatively agreed to maintain current employee numbers for the life of the contract. The deal would include language that guarantees if members are lost due to retirement, discharge, death, etc., they would hire new employees to fill vacant positions.
