Cook County Circuit Clerk Members to Vote on Furlough Day Proposal

Teamsters Local 700 members working for the Cook County Circuit Clerk will have an opportunity the week of Nov. 20 to vote on several offers proposed by Clerk Dorothy Brown.

"Whenever we get a proposal from an employer, it is our duty to bring that information to the membership for a vote," said William P. Logan, Local 700 Assistant Trustee. "This is not a decision we can make. This is entirely up to the members working for the Clerk's Office."

The ballots will include the following options:
Option 1 – 41 union layoffs, 5 furlough days
Option 2 – 24 union layoffs, 8 furlough days
Option 3 – 13 union layoffs, 10 furlough days
Option 4 – 69 union layoffs, 0 furlough days

Voting will take place at all Clerk locations on Nov. 21, 22 and 23. Voting will begin at 8 a.m. each day and end at 4:30 p.m. Local 700 business agents and stewards from the Clerk's Office will be facilitating the vote.

Votes from all locations will be counted at Teamsters Local 700 after 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 23. Members with questions can ask their business agent or chief steward.
