December 19, 2011 Teamsters Local 700 Successfully Overturns 20-Year-Old Case After many hearings before the Illinois Labor Relations Board, Teamsters Local 700 has successfully overturned a 20-year old case that was preventing Shift Supervisors for the Security Communications Center at O’Hare International Airport from unionizing with the Teamsters. “This is an outstanding example of what Teamster representation is all about,” said William P. Logan, Local 700 Assistant Trustee. “Even before they are officially in the union, we are doing everything we can to protect their collective bargaining rights.” The ILRB made its ruling on Nov. 29. The employer has 14 days to appeal. If an appeal is made, the case will be presented in front of the full labor board. If there is no appeal, the ILRB will certify Teamsters Local 700 as the exclusive bargaining representative. |
