February 9, 2012 Village of Hazel Crest Officer Confiscates Over $100,000 From Street Stops Local 700 member and Village of Hazel Crest Officer Reggie Cotton is being commended by fellow officers and Local 700 representatives alike for his outstanding recovery of over $100,000 from street stops in the past six months. "You normally wouldn't pick up any money in a street stop," said Local 700 representative for Hazel Crest Anthony McGee. "This is odd, especially for a small municipality. Everyone's talking about it." The largest stop occurred when Cotton noticed a strange van driving around. After following it for a bit, the driver littered out the window and Cotton was able to pull them over. Roughly $80,000 of alleged drug money was recovered from that stop. "We are proud of the services all our members offer to the civilians," said William P. Logan, Local 700 President. "This is an above and beyond example that we are proud of." |
